woven series

As someone who likes to create with her hands, I really cherish the images of God as a skilled craftsman intentionally knitting, forming and weaving our souls. When the world only saw us as the growing form of our mother's belly, God already knew us - our complexities, our joys, our heartaches. He knows our sons and daughters as he crafts them in the womb. He knows whether we will get to meet them, or whether they will join him before we know them. As my son grows inside of me, I am reminded daily that God is constantly at work within us and around us. He continues to weave the stories of our life, and desires to surround us with his presence no matter where we are. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:13-16. © 2012 Alison Higuera
